Words Designed to Kill Health Care Reform

Dr. Evil is back. I would think by now that many more Americans are aware of Luntz's trickery, and of the dishonest, disingenuous tactics of the GOP. I think the only thing that can derail healthcare reform is not marketing shenanigans, but Democrats themselves thinking the shenanigans are working, so therefore water down their efforts. Watered-down healthcare reform will be stillborn.

gotta load up the prisons to keep the machine running

From TPM

Not As Brave As We Used To Be

Number of Gitmo detainees that the GOP hopes to keep off mainland U.S. soil with its "Keep Terrorists Out Of America Act": roughly 250.

Number of Axis POWs detained in camps on the U.S. mainland at the end of WWII: roughly 425,000.

Seriously, Conservatives can be such whiny babies. Prisons are big business, and they get nearly all of their support from Conservatives. So I fail to see why Conservatives are crying about keeping terrorist prisoners of our soil. Besides, once all the potheads get let out of prison, they'll need warm bodies to keep the machine running.

Remember, more Japanese suicide bombers gave their lives trying to kill Americans in WWII than did terrorists ever. I'm not sure how many of them were interred in US prison camps, but it's worth keeping in mind.

Makes me sick

I was just watching a live session with Jeff Immelt, CEO of GE, and a panel discussing the need to change healthcare in the US. They were so shamelessly obvious, it was disgusting. I had to turn it off.

I feel sorry for anyone who is stupid enough to even momentarily entertain the thought that GE is acting in anyone's best interest besides their shareholders - which, by the way, they are required by law to do. GE's legal mandate requires them to be as profitable as they can be, which means they don't care about healthcare in the slightest other than how much money they can make off of those who are suffering.
