"We're voting for the n****er."

What do say to that? I'm speechless.

From Andrew via Nate:

So a canvasser goes to a woman's door in Washington, Pennsylvania.
Knocks. Woman answers. Knocker asks who she's planning to vote for. She
isn't sure, has to ask her husband who she's voting for. Husband is off
in another room watching some game. Canvasser hears him yell back,
"We're votin' for the n***er!"

Woman turns back to canvasser, and says brightly and matter of factly: "We're voting for the n***er."

Rick Noriega for US Senate: Hell Yeah!

I'll never stop being bewildered at the urban cowboys of Texas. Talk about a bunch of wankers who are all hat and no cattle. I've met more real cowboys in my time who wear baseball caps while managing massive free-range herds than I have real cowboys wearing "cowboy" hats. Seriously, if your hat is a fashion accessory, you may as well be one of the Village People, 'coz you're no more a cowboy than that mustachioed fellow prancing around about the joys of the YMCA. No offense to my relatives, or my gay friends, but all due offense to any pseudo-cowboy who lusts longingly for the John Wayne wanna-be types of John Cornyn (a prototypical Village People cowboy along the likes of Geroge Dubya).

John Cornyn is the biggest douchebag to ever put on a cowboy hat, and any self-respecting Texan who once supported him ought to take their hat in hand and beg Rick Noriega for forgiveness, then swear loyalty to his campaign if for nothing else than an act of absolution for having been such a imbecile for thinking Cornyn was anything less than a prancing fool wishing he was a cowboy and not snot-nosed "better than thou" brat.

If you're from Texas, and you have a woody for tough guys, Cornyn ain't your boy (unless you have some sort of fetish that defies explanation). If you respect real heroes who have given their all willingly to protect the values most decent Americans hold sacred, you'll not only VOTE for RICK NORIEGA, you'll give him some money and get as many people as you know to VOTE for RICK NORIEGA, and get them to get other people they know to VOTE for RICK NORIEGA and give his campaign money too.

For all you Cornyn supporters, grow some and stop being douchebags.

ROLLING STONE: IT'S ALREADY STOLEN

Before you think this fight is over, and that there's a landslide of any kind of landslide for Obama, just remember all my previous posts about rigged voting machines and corrupt Republiscums in charge of the elections in key swing states. If you think for a second they won't be pulling out all stops to steal this election, even against all odds and evidence of reality, just think about the last eight years of corruption, obfuscation, misdirection, and deliberate lying.

Investigation by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Greg Palast released today

Don’t worry about Mickey Mouse or ACORN stealing the election.
According to an investigative report out today in Rolling Stone
magazine, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Greg Palast, after a year-long
investigation, reveal a systematic program of "GOP vote tampering" on a
massive scale.

- Republican Secretaries of State of swing-state Colorado have quietly purged one in six names from their voter rolls.

Over
several months, the GOP politicos in Colorado stonewalled every attempt
by Rolling Stone to get an answer to the massive purge - ten times the
average state's rate of removal.

-
While Obama dreams of riding to the White House on a wave of new
voters, more then 2.7 million have had their registrations REJECTED
under new procedures signed into law by George Bush.

Kennedy, a voting rights lawyer, charges this is a resurgence of 'Jim Crow' tactics to wrongly block Black and Hispanic voters.

- A fired US prosecutor levels new charges - accusing leaders of his
own party, Republicans, with criminal acts in an attempt to block legal
voters as "fraudulent."
- Digging through
government records, the Kennedy-Palast team discovered that, in 2004, a
GOP scheme called "caging” ultimately took away the rights of 1.1
million voters. The Rolling Stone duo predict that, this November 4, it
will be far worse.
There's more:
-
Since the last presidential race, "States used dubious 'list
management' rules to scrub at least 10 million voters from their
rolls."

Among
those was Paul Maez of Las Vegas, New Mexico - a victim of an
unreported but devastating purge of voters in that state that left as
many as one in nine Democrats without a vote. For Maez, the state's
purging his registration was particularly shocking - he's the county
elections supervisor.

The Kennedy-Palast revelations go far beyond the sum of questionably purged voters recently reported by the New York Times.

"Republican
operatives - the party's elite commandos of bare-knuckle politics,"
report Kennedy and Palast, under the cover of fighting fraudulent
voting, are "systematically disenfranchis[ing] Democrats."

The investigators level a deadly serious charge:

"If
Democrats are to win the 2008 election, they must not simply beat
McCain at the polls - they must beat him by a margin that exceeds the
level of GOP vote tampering."

Note
- Kennedy and Palast are releasing, simultaneously with the Rolling
Stone investigative report what they call, the vote-theft 'antidote': a
24-page full-color comic book, Steal Back Your Vote, which can be downloaded or obtained in print from their non-partisan website, StealBackYourVote.org

There is no flag large enough to cover the shame of killing innocent people

Republiscum Racist Pigs

Another reason why progressives need to completely, utterly destroy the Republiscums in this election, and banish the party of hate and racism into political oblivion. We need to do to the entire Republican Party what we did to the Dixiecrats, and send them the way of the KKK. We must run them over and leave their stinking, rotting corpses on the side of the road.

What Free Speech in America looks like today

Iraq War veterans being trampled by POLICE on horses. Welcome to the UPSA (United Police States of America).

Frightening Prospect, Indeed

Supreme MURDERERS of the United States

The Supreme Court of ASSHOLE MURDERERS the United States refused - without explanation or comment - to consider the appeal of a man convicted of murder based on NO murder weapon, NO physical evidence, and incredibly shaky testimony that has been recounted by two witnesses, and three witnesses say another man has admitted to the murder.

The Roberts Court is ruining this country, and we the people have got to do something about it. Roberts needs to go down, either by impeachment or any other means necessary. After him, Alito. Save something special for Scalia last.

What a leader sounds like

Barack gets a question about raising taxes, and takes the time to give a detailed, and dare I say it, "straight talk" answer to the guy. Do you think McCain would answer a question like this so well without spewing meaningless platitudes? Can you imagine the verbal gymnastics Sarah Palin would have to perform just to appear like she understood the question?

Prophetic

Once again, the truth comes from comedy.

Kickin' ass for sarcoma

Here's a photo of my brother Scott finishing 70.3 miles of the Longhorn Ironman for Veterans for Sarcoma. His two boys are helping him over the finish line. I'm glad I got to contribute by designing the jersey for them. Read more about the awesomeness of the Veterans for Sarcoma team, and the incredible story of the team captain, Kirk Offel. (Nice work, bro!)

Vote Fraud attack is a fraud

Don't let the Republiscums and the Rovians fool you. Their attacks on ACORN are part of a major scam they've been trying to perpetuate since they got their asses kicked in the 2006 elections.

Open Letter to Rachel Maddow in Proclamation of Her Awesomeness

Dear Rachel,

You set the standard for all proudly progressive journalists and commentators. The way you capably responded to the sucker-punch by David Frum and deftly turned his tired, hackneyed, right-wing arguments against him was pure poetry. Epic it was that you were also able to rub in his face the sham argument of unwarranted equivocation that nearly every journalist - and so-called journalist - feels an obligation toward, even when it takes balancing the one side's truth with the other side's lie. I can only imagine the fierce drubbing Frum will be getting from his Conservativist cohorts as they taunt and berate him for getting PWNED by a GIRL (because, to this day, not a single one of them has even the slightest respect for just how awesome the power of woman can be).

Rachel, you are a model for women, and a model for progressives everywhere. Thanks for showing everyone how dangerous it is to understimate women, and informed progressives.

You not only rock, you PUNK ROCK!

Sincerely,
Jake Barlow
www.thelowbar.com

P.S. Unlike you, I would not have been able to resist comparing your intellectual humor with the ironically unfunny joke of reporting and commentary that comes from Frum's National Review Online. It took serious cojones for Frum to come on your show and attack you, when his name is attached to such a pathetic rag as NRO. Frum is now equal to Bill Kristol, and not in a good way. And was it just me missing it, or was there really absolutely no sense of irony when Frum mangled Ghandi's famous quote about being the change you want to see in the world? If Frum would have gotten that quotation out properly, his head would have exploded and created a quantum singularity, sucking what is left of the Conservative movement into oblivion.

Why McClatchy is the only respectable media outlet

They clearly know that there is not always two sides to every story. Or, if there is, one side may very well be lying. In this instance, they blow apart the Republiscum claim of the credit crisis being caused by Fannie and Freddie, and lay the blame at the feet of the private sector.

Truth to power!

It must be Monday

McMaverick has another new campaign direction to kick off this week.

The old fart has been using Hillary's playbook every step of the way, and we all saw how that turned out for her.

Hillary fought the Experience versus Change fight, before changing her message to Change that only experience can bring. McCain did the same.

When that didn't work, Hillary got mean and nasty, and completely contemptuous of Obama, but it backfired on her. McCain did the same, with the same results.

Then Hillary went all populist and Annie Oakley, turning into a scrappy, rural fighter. That might have been one of her better moves, but it still didn't work. McCain is doing the same, and it will undoubtedly fail him as it failed Hillary.

He truly is McSame, completely bereft of any new ideas.

I'm actually looking forward to what he'll roll out next Monday, and the Monday after that. I suppose I could look at what Hillary did in the waning days of the primaries to get an idea.

Prescience?

As I warned earlier, we really should be afraid.

A friend (Scamper) forwarded this article by Peter Schiff to me, and it reminded me that I had sourced him a couple years back in my old blog. What Peter predicted back then has happened, and now what he's predicting seems likely to me that it will happen.

The future ain't so bright.

We are what we eat...

We eat oil, and spew greenhouse gasses.

But the 20th-century industrialization of agriculture has increased the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by the food system by an order of magnitude; chemical fertilizers (made from natural gas), pesticides (made from petroleum), farm machinery, modern food processing and packaging and transportation have together transformed a system that in 1940 produced 2.3 calories of food energy for every calorie of fossil-fuel energy it used into one that now takes 10 calories of fossil-fuel energy to produce a single calorie of modern supermarket food. Put another way, when we eat from the industrial-food system, we are eating oil and spewing greenhouse gases.

An excellent narrative that I've waited years for someone to articulate.

(hat tip to Cathy!)
